Trichophytic Coverage and the Resulting Scar

Trichophytic Coverage and the Resulting Scar
A comparison of scarred area and normal area

Since the dynamics of the hairy scalp are different from those on the skin of other body parts, special suture techniques have been developed for this region. Trichophytic coverage is sometimes combined with metal clips and in some cases very fine threads are used. All these techniques serve the aim of not leaving a noticeable scar on the scalp of the patient that will cause discomfort in the future. After the operation, the width of the scar must be between 1.0 and 1.5 mm at the most.

The Preparation of Follicular Units under the Microscope:

In the next step, follicular units are prepared for the operation with the help of 3-D microscopes. ATTENTION: In most clinics, only simple magnifiers are used and follicular units are dissected under an ordinary light. However, if these methods are implemented, follicular units cannot be obtained. What is obtained is only mini-micro grafts, which will not give a natural result in the restored area. Transmed ensures the preparation of all grafts to be transferred with the help of special-screen microscopes.

It is a scientifically proven fact that extracting hair follicles employing “Single Strip Harvesting” method and preparing the follicular units under a microscope increases the protection chances of these follicles by 25%. In addition to this, follicular units obtained by this method grow naturally after the hair transplantion operation and they cannot be differentiated from the rest of the hair. Given the advantages listed above, one could ask why this method is not preferred in many clinics by a number of doctors. The reason is that this method is much more time consuming and costly and that it requires special skills and training.

At Transmed, in each operating room there are four to six electronic-screen microscopes. What’s more, each operation is carried out by an experienced team formed by six to eight trained technical assistants and a doctor in charge of the operation. So the preparation of the follicular units and the tranplantation of them to the recipient area with great care are guaranteed.

Trichophytic Coverage and the Resulting Scar

The secret underlying the success of the method is that follicular units preserved in their natural forms are transplanted to the bald areas on the scalp one by one. The advantage of this method is quite obvious: Transplanted hairs cannot be distinguished from the natural hairs in terms of quality and appearance. Even in the forehead line, it is not possible to spot them. To us, the most important criterion determining the quality of a hair restoration operation is the natural appearance of the hairs. Using the right instruments and the right techniques contributes to the success of the operation as well as the experience of the doctor and the team performing it. With Transmed Method, we ensure both of them.
